I have been wanting to do this mani for a while now.. and day 7 of the time warp challenge gave me just the opportunity to so! "Create a manicure inspired by something that was popular both then and now" What better example of a style which has stood the test of time than animal print?! It seems I'm not the only one who thought so, Kayono over at Neues vom Kellerkind also used animal print as her inspiration for today.
Below you can see a few examples of the life of animal print fashion... (from left to right)
The 1950's animal print swim suit, Jackie Kennedy sporting the popular animal print/fur coat in the 1960's-70's. And of course animal print on some of today's hottest celebrities... (source: google images)
And now without further ado I give you my animal print manicure... (keep reading after the jump to see a tutorial for this look)

First of all I painted my nails with one thin coat of Sally Hansen Smooth & Perfect Fog
It's not that opaque but the sponging takes care of it.
I used the animal print stamp from my x-large fauxnad plate. I stamped onto a piece of paper and then laid a sheet of wax paper over top so I could use it as a guide for my gradient.
I sponged the polish onto my nail twice to get it dark enough. Then I sponged Sinful Colors Out of this world onto the white parts to add a little glitter. Once that dried I stamped with Finger Paints Black Expressionism and the animal print stamp. Then I cleaned the mani up and topped it all off with two coats of Seche Vite :)
The upclose photo below shows the glitter a lot better, I had to fade out my ugly window ledge :P
And thats day 7 of the challenge! Day 8 is coming up in the next couple of days :)
