I have a question for all of you nail art enthusiasts out there… can you remember any one particular manicure that inspired you to try nail art yourself?
I can! :) As I mentioned many times before, Sammy from The Nailasaurus was my initial inspiration to start blogging. And it happened exactly one year ago. I was google-ing some ideas for simple Christmas manicures when I stumbled upon her 12 days of Christmas nails... that is when I discovered this amazing world of nail blogging. The manicure that caught my eye was her “Let it Snow” design… and of course, I recreated it!
So today I have a special treat for you. You get to see one of my first nail art designs and my recreation of it from this year. It blows my mind how far I’ve come in a year… so I wanted to share it with all of you.
First up is my design from last year:
Can you believe the mess? This was before nail art brushes, dotting tools and acetone clean-up. I created most of the details using a toothpick and a nail art Deco polish that comes with a small brush. I can’t remember specific polishes other than the navy blue (because I used the same one this year), Nicole by OPI Loyalty to Royal-ty.
And this years design:
The White is Jordana French White Manicure and I painted a little glitter here and there with Jordana Rhinestones. I added star studs from born pretty store because I didn’t have star glitter. The nose is Cult Nails Scandalous and the scarf is China Glaze Adventure Red-Y. The buttons were painted using a dotting tool and Jordana Black.
Amazing the difference one year makes… this is one of my favourite Christmas designs :)
And Sammy, along with many other talented bloggers, continue to give me inspiration for my own nail art.
