Halloween Water Marble

It seems to me that I've gotten my inspiration back :) The last couple of weeks I have been in a blogging slump.. but now I feel motivated again and I have a bunch of new ideas to finish up halloween week and take us into the next holiday season so stay tuned.

Today I have for you a halloween water marble! I had a new orange and black polish lying around and I find new polishes the best to marble with. This time I added a bunch of dots using a dotting tool because I felt it needed a little something more.

I used a base coat of China Glaze White on White
Then marbled with Revlon Inflame & China Glaze Liquid Leather.

For Halloween I often like the plain black and orange combo :)

Only 2 more days to halloween!!

I spend too much time on the web

Spiders! One of my favourite halloween creatures. I used to collect them in jars as a child (eeek! I know). I really like today's design, I am quite disappointed I have to remove it so soon to catch up on other blog posts. Maybe I will recreate this one for halloween day..

This manicure is also being entered into a contest on facebook. It's hosted by: Nicole by O.P.I.

Please Please Please vote for my entry in the contest.. just click the link:
http://bit.ly/U69HH9
"like" Nicole by O.P.I then vote for my entry! Top 5 will be based on number of votes and then they will choose one lucky winner to receive 18 full size lacquers of their choice. :)

I used Revlon Inflame as my base, then put one coat of Nicole by OPI Freshly Squeezed over top. I sponged on Nicole by OPI Give me the 1st Dance in random places. Then I freehanded the webs and spider using a nail art brush and China Glaze Liquid Leather.

The photos don't do justice to how sparkly this manicure is in real life. The orange and silver are gorgeous I should wear these polishes more often :)

Ghoulish Glow

I love glow in the dark everything!! And Halloween gives me the perfect opportunity to take my glow-in-the-dark polish out of the vault :)

This manicure happens to feature all China Glaze polishes :)
I started with a base of CG White on White (the white base helps the polish glow really well.
Then I added 2 coats of Ghoulish Glow.
The designs were freehanded using CG Liquid Leather. I added the ghost's eyes with a dotting tool.

I was playing around with my camera for a while before I found the right settings to capture the glow and the designs. For those of you who have pre-set "scene" or SCN settings on your camera and struggle to photograph glow-in-the-dark nails... try the "candle light" setting. It even allows you to put it in macro mode. The firework setting on my camera worked well to capture the glow but it was fairly blurry.

Only 4 more days until Halloween!! :D Stay tuned for more halloween designs..

Let Halloween week begin!

I have to admit I have been feeling very un-inspired lately. Some of you may have noticed by the lack of freehand work on my blog. Truth is, I've been enjoying simple manicures and most of my freehand work hasn't been up to my own standards.

I'm hoping that since halloween is officially one week away I might feel a little more inspired to do some freehand work :)

Not starting today obviously... today is a stamped halloween manicure featuring Revlon Inflame.

The pumpkins are from BM-222 & BM-224 & stamped with China Glaze Liquid Leather
My skin looks ghastly white, that is thanks to my shitty camera.. it was the only way I could get a color-accurate photo of this polish.

Speaking of which, Revlon Inflame is a gorgeous red-orange with an extremely smooth formula. I adore it! :)

Review: Pedi-Sox®

This is the first review on my blog and I'm really excited about it. I've had two companies contact me before this, one was a makeup retailer and the other was for sunglasses.. I didn't want to jeopardize my blogs reputation just for free stuff so I turned both of them down for the number one reason that I write a nail art blog not a beauty blog.

But when Pamela, founder of Pedi-Sox®, contacted me, her product seemed like one I would really get good use out of so I said yes! :)

She sent me these to try out: Pedi-Sox® Original in Red and B&W stripes and Pedi-Sox® Ultra leopard print.

So far I've tried the original and ultra (above) and my sister tried out the striped ones. These could not have come at a better time.... the weather is getting cold fast here and my house is cold all the time because I'm a poor student :P
Pedi-Sox® are perfect for pedicures during the cold months.

I do a full pedicure once every couple of weeks, and this time I did all of the steps before polishing and after I put moisturizer on I put my Pedi-Sox® on. They make me feel very pampered :) My feet felt so soft and moisturized after I took them off. I also like to shower after the gym in the evenings and moisturize and put them on... after only 4 days I already notice a difference. This time of year my feet get especially dry but now they are quite soft :)

Best of all this product is very affordable. You can purchase Pedi-Sox® online and at a few retailers in Canada: Windsor Beauty Supply has six locations in Ontario and Details Beauty Supply in BC. For other locations check out the Pedi-Sox® website by clicking on the photo below:

PINKT♀BER

As I'm sure most of you know by now, October is breast cancer awareness month. I have been waiting for ages to use BM-321, the awareness stamp from Bundle Monster... and this was the perfect opportunity.

I used China Glaze White On White & Sally Hansen Salon Manicure I Pink I Can.
As mentioned before, the stamp is BM-321.
For a little something extra, I added Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter to the large ribbons on each accent nail.

Apologies for my cuticles, I took the photos in the morning and didn't realize they were a little dry.

Many of us have been or will be affected by breast cancer at some point in our lives.

Please visit www.cancer.ca to see what you can do to protect yourself from breast cancer... or donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Bundle Monster Fright Night Contest Entry

Today's post is short and sweet.. I entered a manicure into the Bundle Monster Fright Night contest for a chance to win over $100 worth of prizes!

I used Orly Charged Up as my base. Then I created a gradient using Charged Up and China Glaze Liquid Leather. The accent nail features Sally Hansen Xtreme wear Mellow Yellow & Sun Kissed topped with Sally Hansen HD Hue to add a little shine. I stamped with Finger Paints Black Expressionism and BM-213 (bats) & BM-305 (haunted house).

Once again I call upon all of my lovely readers to please click on the link in my sidebar and vote for my entry. Voting is open from October 13-19th and then the top 13 will go on to the judging round.

Thanksgiving Watermarble

I know it's a little late for a thanksgiving manicure (Canadian that is), but this is the mani I sported on monday. It's one of the fastest watermarbles I've done yet. I did only one nail on each hand but the entire mani only took me half an hour! :D

I used Essie Little Brown Dress (as the base) & China Glaze Kalahari Kiss with LBD for the marble.
I loved the combination of these two rich colors, and it matched my sweater dress nicely (sadly I didn't include a photo of the dress)

Since the two polishes were new (featured in my haul post yesterday), the water marble was a pain-free process (which I don't get to say very often)!

September Haul

A little overdue for a haul post :) This will be the last haul post before my birthday and/or christmas. I'm saving up for a trip to Dominican in april as a graduation gift to myself!

So to start off with a bang... I give you the new MASH plate set and Red Angel Plate set! :D I ordered these way back in May and had them mailed to my roomies place in the states (because it was 1000x cheaper). She brought them with her when she moved back at the beginning of September. By then it was like receiving free stuff!

Then of course I HAD to order the new plate organizer from Bundle Monster. As far as I know this is the first company to come out with a plate organizer.. it's the bomb!

You can see the lovely leather case with the Bundle Monster (BM) logo... and the added bonus of my kitty in the photo (#1). There are 14 sheets which can fit 6 plates in each (#2). That's 84 plates!
You can see that there are 6 openings on the front of each sheet but not on the back (#3).. that didn't stop me from doubling up plates in each "slot" (#4) So I can fit 168 plates in total!

The only downside I would say is that it wasn't built to fit 168 plates to begin with, but overall it's a fantastic product. I fit my two bundle monster sets (#2&3) as well as my new MASH and RA sets... with room to spare!

Now.. on to the polishes :)

As a thank you for the nails I painted on "nail night"... all of the ladies from work gave me these 6 beauties from Sally's! :) From left to right: Nina Ultra Pro: Starry Night, Purple Pizzaz, Pretti Pink, Mariachi, Unteal You, Punki Purple
So so sweet of them! Thank you ladies for adding to my ever-growing collection!

O.P.I DS Magic was given to me by Emily at The Lacquerologist for winning her 6 month blogiversary nail art contest.. with my neon water marble. (Let me just add that if you head over to Emily's blog I hope you are as shocked as I am that she has only been at this for about 8 months?! - she's amazing!)
Sadly, this photo doesn't do it justice, I will have to do a manicure featuring this shade very soon.

This lovely little treasure is my first Daring Digits polish! DD Why So Serious? I got to choose this beauty because I entered in her nail art contest a while back. So pretty I will do a swatch soon!

The O.P.I mini Spiderman Collection!! So excited about these. Before this month I had absolutely no OPI polishes in my collection (I know - unbelievable right?), and now I have DS magic and these 4 lovelies! From left to right: Into the night, Number one nemesis, Your web or mine?, and Just spotted the Lizard. I won these in the nail art contest I entered for KattClaws.

Continuing with the free polish... A friend of mine wanted to order a konad stamping set from Nail Polish Canada... so I took the opportunity to redeem some polish points. For those of you unfamiliar with NPC, you collect points every time you place an order with them, and I had enough racked up to get myself Little Brown Dress, Bikini so Teeny, & Your hut or mine. These three polishes are the bulk of my essie polishes, more firsts!

And now we get into the few polishes I picked up here and there throughout the month. From left to right: Sinful Colors Out of This World ($1.99 @ Lawtons)
Revlon Charming & Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro Desert Rose (Wal Mart)
And Sally's had a buy one get one free sale on all Finger Paints polishes so I picked up Tiffany Imposter & Micheltangelo

These four are from Sally's: (top)China Glaze Innocence, Peachy Keen, & Kalahari Kiss
(bottom)Orly Glam FX Too Fab

All in all I spent very little on such a large haul this month. I'm also excited to announce that I have recently agreed to review some products from the Born Pretty Store... I should receive them within 3-5 weeks so you can look forward to my review.. in the meanwhile all of my lovely readers are welcome to use my promo code to get 10% off their purchase if they so choose. You can find the promo code on the right side of my blog.
