But one thing that brightened my mood was a follower on twitter getting in touch with me and offering to send me some korean brand nail polishes! :) My new friend Jamie from Manila, Philippines visited Vancouver in March and sent them all the way across the country to me!
I am so so touched that someone would do something so thoughtful! And the polishes are awesome! I wore each one for 2 days over the last week or so, and decided to share swatches with you all (a rare sight on this blog - but there's nail art at the bottom)
The brand is Etude House, and all four of these colors (not specifically named) are part of the Look at My Cotton Candy Nails Collection. From what I could tell, as a Canadian, this brand is sold on ebay or amazon but for a price ($10 a bottle before shipping)... and I couldn't find this collection specifically... which makes them all the more special to me :)
Now on to more swatches... (*caution: pic heavy)
This beauty is my favourite of the four. A beautiful aqua (or turquoise?), this polish is opaque in two thin coats.
This pale peachy-pink is super cute and flattering for my skin tone. It's very work appropriate and opaque in 2 thick coats or 3 thin.
I can't begin to explain how long I've been looking for a pastel lime green... I have had my eye out for Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Green Tea but had no luck finding it. This is the perfect substitute.. and it's a little more bold than the SH one looks in swatches. It's my new favourite green polish... I have a few stamping designs in mind for this one :)
And last but not least this lovely pale purple. I have a few pale purples in my collection of polishes but this one is slightly lighter than the others, I really like it. Initially I thought this would be my favourite in the collection so I saved it for last, but it takes a close second to the aqua. Still it's a gorgeous shade and opaque in 2 coats.
Finally, I couldn't leave you all with just swatches... yesterday I added a little something to my purple manicure and love the result!
I started with a white and purple gradient including Finger Paints Paper Mache. Then stamped with BM-221 and Konad special white polish. My nails aren't doing too bad, but my cuticles have been very dry lately... I'm working on fixing that asap.
And Finally, I want to say a HUGE thank you to Jamie for sending these polishes to me as a gift. I've said before how amazing the nail polish community is, and I stick by that. I have made so many friends online since starting this blog, I only wish I could meet many of these lovely people in person someday :)
