For today's challenge I decided to do "Christmas where I'm from" instead of "where I live". Mostly because I'm in school right now and I won't be decorating or celebrating Christmas in Halifax. Secondly, because it's quite possible there will be a green Christmas here, and I hate that! Christmas where I'm from (Wabush, Labrador) is always white and cold, and beautiful :)
For this design I was inspired by a photo I found on google. It's actually my desktop background right now…
I started with a base of OPI I Saw… U Saw… We Saw… Warsaw. I painted the squiggly snow on in layers using Barry M Cyan Blue, Blueberry Icecream and OPI Alpine snow (in that order, using the brush from the polish bottle). Next I painted the trunk and branches of the tree using OPI Black Onyx using a small nail art brush. I added snow to each of the branches and painted the moon with Alpine Snow. Finally, using a dotting tool I added the decorations and snow flakes. The decorations are: Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Red My Lips, SH X-treme Wear Mellow Yellow and Sun Kissed, and SH Insta-Dri Mint Sprint.
My only regret was making the snow flakes a little too big for my liking (I often struggle with selecting the appropriate sized dotting tool. But I'll try to remember that for next time.
Now I'm off to study for final exam #2.
And all of you should head over to Nailed It NZ to see the other manicures for today's challenge :)
