Zoya Mermaid

As promised, today I am showing you my Zoya gradient with a little something extra ;)

Mermaid scales! And to be completely honest I can't quite recall which stamp I used for this design (and I'm on campus now without my blog notebook). But I stamped with konad special silver polish.

As I mentioned before, my nails are still in recovery so this design was one from the vault. I will be back to regular posting as soon as my nails gain a little length.

Zoya Gradient

I'm back! So sorry for the hiatus, I can't believe it has been two weeks since my last post!! My life has been completely chaotic. My trip to Germany was amazing! I took so many pictures and haven't gotten a chance to go through them yet. As soon as I got back to Canada I packed everything up and moved to a difference province to start my Physiotherapy program. Unfortunately, my new apartment will not have internet until September 12th. Today is the first day I managed to get on campus and get access to WiFi so that I can schedule a few posts to tie you all over until I can get back to a regular schedule.

So... enough of an explanation for my absence, lets get on to the nails already...

Indirect Sunlight

Today's gradient is simple yet glamorous! :) I used Zoya Charla and Mimi over top of a black base. This manicure is actually from the vault (I created it a few weeks before leaving for germany)... since my nails are still in recovery from moving... major recovery.

Indirect Natural Light

Indoor no flash
Stay tuned, tomorrow I scheduled a post featuring this gradient will a little something extra added ;)

Pink Voltage

My trip is slowly coming to a close. At this point I should be making my way back to Berlin to finish off my last few days with my friend.

Another simple stamping manicure again for you today...

I picked up China Glaze Pink Voltage a few weeks ago when Sally Beauty was having a "buy two china glaze, get a seche vite free" sale. Who could pass that up?

I have to admit I usually shy away from neons because they look too obnoxious under indoor lighting (especially at work) - ironic coming from a nail artist I know... a lot of my manicures could be considered "obnoxious" or childish... but for some reason neon is where I draw the line :P \

With that being said, this was a less obnoxious neon I could live with. The little bit of shimmer in the bottle was what drew me in. And once I added a bit of shiny top coat to my nails the shimmer came through there too.

I also added a full coverage stamp (I tend to go for stamps that cover a lot of the polish underneath when I want to tone down a manicure), BM-306 with konad special black polish.

And that's that. I will be returning late Sunday evening and then I will get back to regularly scheduled posts (as opposed to pre-scheduled). So stay tuned :)

Golden Age of Glitter

My trip is slowing coming to a close, but at this point I should be leaving copenhagen and heading to Rostock :)

I always tend to turn to skittlette manis or accent nails when I can't settle on an idea for a manicure...

Luckily this manicure didn't disappoint. The base coat on all nails other than my ring finger is Finger Paints Black Expressionism. My ring finger is OPI My Vampire is Buff. I stamped over that with konad special black and my fauxnad plate from I added a little sparkle with Icing Golden Age of Glitter.

Every now and then I fall back on a simple animal print mani. You can never go wrong.

I started with a base of Revlon Magnetize and then stamped over with MASH-41 and konad special black polish.

It kind of reminds me of a white tiger :)

At this point I'm entering into week two of my German adventure :) I think I'm somewhere in Coppenhagen! I hope you are all enjoying your summer and had a chance to take a vacation, even if it's a stay-cation :)

My Heart is in Treble

Cult Nails Evil Queen, the perfect candy apple red. This polish has been on my lemming list for quite some time. I finally picked it up about a month ago and it was everything I hoped it would be :)

I decided to show it some love with a little freehand design I have been wanting to try out. Seemed like the perfect opportunity...

I started with a base of Evil Queen on each nail except the accent, that one was Finger Paints Black Expressionism. Then I added Cult Nails Captivated on the pinky for an extra sparkle. The freehand design was created using a nail art brush and Finger Paints Paper Mache.

The treble clef also seemed appropriate since I'm in one of the world's most historic countries when it comes to famous classical musicians/composers. (for those of you who didn't realize, I'm touring around Germany for two weeks).

I hope you are all enjoying the posts that I had pre-scheduled. That's why my nail length keeps changing from post-to-post lately :P

Guest Post at Sincerely Stephanie (take two!)

I can't believe it's been almost a year since my first guest post over at Sincerely Stephanie, it seems like it was just yesterday.. (and now I sound like an "old bitty" lol)

Stephanie has very kindly asked me to guest post for her again while she takes a little break before starting her Masters degree... and I very happily accepted :)

Click on the photo below to go straight to the post and see swatches of that beautiful base polish! :)

Copy Cat: Chit Chat Nails (from the vault)

At this point I should be in Dresden, either that or already lost in a foreign country :P  You can see some of my vacation adventures on my instagram account, I will be updating it whenever I hook up to WiFi.

Anyways.. today I have a manicure from the vault. The pictures even have my old watermark on them.

I fell in love with this design the minute I saw it on Chit Chat Nails blog ages ago.. and had to recreate it...

I started with a base of OPI Don't Pretzel my Buttons, then added a thick line using Orly Coffee Break and then a slightly thinner line using Essie Little Brown Dress. I stamped over all of that with MASH-43 and konad special white polish. I decided to top it off with Essie Matte About You.

Sweet and simple but there's really something special about it :)

Stay tuned I have plenty more scheduled posts for you while I'm away.

Holographic Tips

And here begins my series of pre-scheduled posts while I am away touring Germany!! :) At this point I should be all cozied up at my friend's house in Furstenwalde. You can keep tabs on little bits of my vacation through my instagram :)

To start off the 2 weeks I have something very simple today..

When in doubt, you can never go wrong with a gradient :) Or sponging on a "french" tip.

I started with a base of Finger Paints Black Expressionism and then sponged on a few coats of Butter London Trustafarian.

Even with just the tips painted, that polish was so amazing in the sun. I really need to build my collection of holo polishes Who knows... maybe I will pick up a few in Germany ;)

Around the World Challenge: Sydney

Well folks, this is it. The 15th and final week of the Around the World Challenge. It's been fun! :)

Today the challenge brings us to Sydney, Australia.... a destination that is definitely on my to-travel list.

I was pressed for time on this one so I kept it very simple...

I was inspired by the Sydney Opera House (as seen on my middle nail)
I started with a base of OPI I saw... U saw... We saw.. Warsaw (way too long of a title) and the rest was done with OPI Dining Al-Fresco

Apologies for the dark exposure, I didn't realize until I uploaded them and I don't have time to fix it right now.

Don't forget to head over to Guilty as Charged and check out the other entrants. There's also a giveaway for a travel size OPI manicure kit.

Travel Manicure Ideas

I'm going on Vacation!! :D   Tomorrow evening I will be off for two full weeks to Germany to visit a very good friend of mine and my best girlfriend is travelling with me!!

I am so so excited, although it still doesn't seem real.

As I was packing my manicure "to-go" kit, I realized it would be a great blog post idea... so today I will be showing you all what I plan to take with me for my two week adventure and show you a few quick manicure ideas that you can do on the go :)

First I start with the basics... some nail polish remover wipes (these are much easier to carry with me than a bottle of remover and make up pads), nail clipper (not shown), base coat (not shown), top coat (gotta love a new bottle of seche vite), mini nail file (courtesy of mont bleu), travel size hand creme, mini cuticle oil, and a Sally Hansen No more Mistakes clean-up pen.

This will be my first time using a clean-up pen instead of pure acetone, but I thought it would be much easier to carry around with me instead of a bottle of acetone and brush.

And of course, some polish!! (For those of you that like to keep things simple you could just take your favourite polish and a small manicure kit (as seen above), but of course I choose to spice things up!

For my trip to germany I chose three lovely shades from the OPI Germany Collection, Germanicure, Don't Pretzel my Buttons, and Berlin There, Done That. I also Included CG Flip Flop Fantasy (any polish-lovers go-to summer shade) and Shimmer Airriann (it's always nice to have a glitter handy)

And now I will show you a few simple manicure ideas that you can do on the go...

This manicure is two coats of FFF with Airriann painted at the base of my nails...

This next one features three of the Germany Collection polishes. Start with the light base and add strips of the other polishes as you go. (This look is very similar to the Steven Tyler nail art)

And last but not least is a variation on the traditional french manicure (that requires a lot less precision). Start with a base coat (I used Don't Pretzel My Buttons) and then paint the tips with two quick swipes from the inside in and down to the tip. This look would also work great with FFF.

Simple and sweet, a few manicure ideas for travelling. What else would you consider to be a must-have when on-the-go?? I dunno about all of you but I always feel like I'm forgetting something when I pack.

Thank you Marta!!

A few weeks ago I received a very sweet message from Marta over at Chit Chat Nails asking for my address so she could send me a little something "just because"... who would ever turn down free goodies??

Little did I know I would receive these five beauties!!

If you're unfamiliar with that polish in the middle... it's Cult Nails Just Because, a limited edition polish that will not be for sale from Cult Nails. Maria (from Cult Nails) will be giving this polish away to a few lucky ladies during random giveaways, special occasions, or "Just Because". I cannot begin to explain my giddy-ness over the fact that I am now one of the few owners of this polish.

And as if that wasn't enough, Marta included a few other polishes: Shimmer Arriann, OPI Dining Al-Fresco (from the SanFrancisco Collection), and Cirque Sanguine and Kaleidoscope.

I am so touched by her Generosity... I can only hope to repay her someday - maybe when I finally finish school and start making some money for myself :P

Now just for fun I've included a few swatches "Just Because" <3

I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Marta for her kindness!! I hope we can meet up someday for some friendly Chit Chat when either of us venture across the country... for whatever reason ;)
