Glittery Trickery

I adore this stamp from the new Bundle Monster collection and I applaud the creator (whoever you may be).

If you are familiar with the world of nail art then I'm sure you are familiar with the popular black and white glitters that many indie polish brands have created, most notably Lynnderella's Connect the dots, and the much more affordable Cover Bands Sticks and Stones, they were all the rage a few months back... Chalkboard Nails did a fabulous ultimate review of black and white glitters, you can check out here.

Well, due to my limited budget I did not get my hands on one… so you can imagine my excitement when someone came up with a replica stamp for the fan-created Bundle Monster set...

The base is Finger Paints Paper Mache and I stamped using BM-408 with konad special black polish.

I love this stamp, but the contrast of the black on white was a little too much for my liking (reminded me of a dalmatian), I have a whole new idea for the next time I use this stamp, which might be fairly soon…

Honey Dew, Honey Don't

I have been a bad bad blogger this fall. And my 4 posts so far in November was just a major wake up call for me. This month has been completely overwhelming in school… we had several major projects due for the term and finals are just around the corner (first one is in a week!) so I have been flat out! (I guess I should have guessed that a masters degree would be hard work)

My new year's resolution this year will be to budget my time better and make room for blogging :)

Just for the record, I love painting my nails and blogging to all of you lovely readers about how I create each design, it's a little creative outlet in my otherwise not-so-creative world… so I don't plan on stepping away from it completely even though it may seem that way by my sparse posting, but bear with me, I will figure out a schedule that works for me eventually.

Anyways, enough of my babbling… here is a manicure I wore a few days ago that I loved!

Unfortunately this shade is a little camera shy and the stamp is a bit more difficult to see compared to real life… but I assure you it's super cute.

The base, if you haven't guessed already, is PiCture POlish Honey Dew, one of my all-time favourites. And I stamped the design from BM-419 with konad special white polish.

Stay tuned… I have lots planned for december as my finals clue up and I head into a well-needed holiday. I also have some products on the way for review that I think you'll all enjoy :)

Belated Birthday Nails

Hi all,

Today I want to share with you the manicure I wore on my birthday (which was wednesday)! I meant to share this with you sooner but I keep getting tied up in other things and editing/watermarking photos takes time.

But it's better late than never…

I wanted something simple featuring one of my favourite color-combinations (nude, white and black). And decided to throw in a little glitter for fun.

The glitter is Shimmer Polish Irene. Accent nails feature OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons as the base, then  I stamped over it with BM-423 and konad special black polish. I used the stamp as an outline and then painted on either side of the black stripes with Finger Paints Paper Mache and Bonita Chrome my Nail.

I also got a lot of polishes and nail art treats for my birthday :) My boy spoiled me by adding to my ever-growing Cult Nails collection (polishes you will see in future posts). And my sister spoiled me with two mirror-effect Layla polishes that have been on my lemming list for ages, and the Bundle Monster holiday collection! :) And my parents surprised me with some money transferred into my account (a college students favourite!) which I get to spend on "me"! So needless to say I had an excellent day and now I am looking forward to Christmas more than ever.

Exams are fast approaching but I will try my best not to fall off the face of my blog altogether :)

Fantasizing about Flip-Flops

The days are getting shorter and it's definitely getting colder around here… and I am currently studying for a dreadful midterm in Cardio-Respiratory Physiotherapy…

I thought I would take a moment away from my studies and share this manicure with you that I had on earlier this week…

This is the new formula of Flip Flop Fantasy (a little more "peach" than "pink"). I stamped over it with BM-422 and konad special black polish.

Just a quick study break.. and now I'm heading straight back to the books!

Classy Leopard Print

Without even trying to I managed to re-create one of my own designs. The other day I was feeling a little uninspired and decided to go for a very classic animal print (my go-to when I'm not sure what I want on my nails)… but when I was finished the design looked awfully familiar to me…

Sure enough when I looked back into my own archives I found the design from August 2012. I had finally found a tutorial that helped me with my freehand leopard print skills, but promised to recreate the design again only with smaller spots. Well without realizing it, I finally came through on my promise…

This time I started with a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff. I used a dotting tool to add the gold spots using Pier-1 Imports Platinum Spark and then using a small nail art brush I painted the extra details using Essie Little Brown Dress.

I much rather the smaller spots compared to the larger ones, and It's also cool to see my freehand and photo taking skills improve over the last year…

Monacle Movember

Well folks, it's that time of year again… when men around the world lend their upper lip to a greater cause - it's Movember!

For those of you wondering why men everywhere are sporting a moustache:
"Movember encourages men to join the movement by growing a moustache for the 30-days of November. After registering on Movember.com, these generous Mo Bros start the month clean-shaven, then grow and groom their Mo (slang for moustache), asking friends and family to donate to their efforts. With their new moustaches, these Mo Bros act as walking and talking billboards, bringing awareness to men’s health issues and prompting conversations wherever they go"
"Movember supports world class Men's Health Programs that combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges"  Movember Canada

Many of my friends are participating and I will be sure to throw a little donation their way :)

And of course I will spread the word in the best way I know how…

I started with a base of OPI Significant Other Color on my index and middle finger, and OPI liquid sands My Current Crush on my ring finger and pinky. I stamped the moustache from BM-402 on my index finger and the full design from 402 on my middle finger. Then I added a 3D Moustache from Born Pretty Store on my middle finger using nail art glue.

The 3D moustaches come in packs of five, and you can choose between 12 different colours. Born Pretty Store has a ton of moustache memorabilia including rings (I purchased the one featured here).

Don't forget to donate to the "Mo Bros" in your life :)

And you can pick up any of your moustache memorabilia from Born Pretty Store with free shipping!
