We Wear Pink On Wednesdays : Mean Girls 10th Anniversary

10 years ago today Mean Girls hit the box office... which means that today, April 30th, a WEDNESDAY, I'm celebrating their 10th Anniversary by wearing PINK! :)

The pink is OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips. The stamp is PUEEN-55 from the Buffet set using konad special white polish.

Have any of you celebrated the 10th Anniversary by wearing pink this Wednesday? let me know in the comments! :)

Copy Cat @allnailseverything

When I saw this manicure on instagram I just HAD to recreate it! :)

Nadia (@allnailseverything) created this look using Butter London Trout Pout, but I decided I wanted to break out CG Flip Flop Fantasy for mine since spring has sprung!

I started with a base of OPI Alpine Snow on all of my nails. Then using a make-up sponge I created a gradient on my thumb and middle finger using the new and old FFF formulas (I'm sad they changed the formula but are still calling it FFF)

Using a dotting tool I added polka dots on my index and pinky... and finally using a nail art brush I painted on the flowers using a mixture of FFF and Alpine Snow to get a lighter pink, and Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Grass Slipper (also mixed with a little of Alpine Snow) for the leaves, all outlined using OPI Black Onyx.

The old FFF formula is the pinker of the two (on my tips), and the new formula has a more peachy tone at the base of my nail.

I still find FFF tricky to photograph because of it's neon qualities... it all depends on the lighting.

I hope you like this look :) It's so perfect for spring! Don't forget to head over to @allnailseverything to see more of Nadia's work, she's so talented!

Intriguing Geometry

Some of you may be familiar with the Google Hangouts that Maria from Cult Nails has put off. She's had two so far. Basically Maria gets together with a few of her favourite bloggers and puts off a live hangout where they chat about nails, show us new products, do a tutorial, and even give away a few goodies... and anyone can tune in to watch and chat or tweet questions that the bloggers will answer. :) It's really quite fun.

So last wednesday, on the eve of my final exam, she hosted one and I of course took the first opportunity to procrastinate and tuned in! :)

Maria was joined by Refined and Polished and Nail Vinyls and even Marta from Chit Chat Nails for a short while. Lakeisha from R&P used the new Cult Nails Casual Elegance collection and showed us a few techniques using the Nail Vinyls. Linda from Nail Vinyls offered up a limited-time coupon to use on her website, and Maria gave away one Casual Elegance and one It's A New Day collection.

All while this was happening, I was putting together this manicure for you all, and if you follow my instagram you would've seen this already...

Since my Nail Vinyls sample had already been used when I first got my Casual Elegance collection in the mail (see design here), I decided to do a simple stamping manicure.

I started with a base of Cult Nails Intriguing on my thumb, index, and middle finger. And Cult Nails Fetish (wax black) on my other nails. I stuck the Born Pretty Store studs on using rhinestone glue and stamped the geometric design from BM-320.

I took advantage of the coupon from Nail Vinyls and ordered a mixed set. AANNDD... I was the lucky winner of the It's A New Day collection and stamping plate!! :D So I am super super excited and waiting for that to arrive in the mail :)

If you're interested in future hangouts, keep an eye on the Cult Nails Facebook page for deets! :)

Roar for Autism Awareness

As many of you may already know, April is the month for Autism Awareness. To shine a light on Autism, a few ladies from the instagram nail art community have collaborated and painted our nails blue.

@amcpolish organized the #RoarForAutismAwareness campaign and asked anyone who was interested to do a blue animal print manicure for the cause :)

So here's mine...

The transitional animal print is my favourite animal print design so I thought it would be appropriate for this :)

I started with a base of Cult Nails Party Time on my thumb and pinky and Cult Nails Nakizzle's Shizzle on the others. Then I stamped with konad m-57 and m-78. Using Party Time I added in some spots and then top coated the look.

And here is the full collage of all of the ladies who participated in #roarforautismawareness

Play Date

One final day of studying, and one last final exam tomorrow stands between me and FREEDOM from my first year of Physiotherapy :) It has been the most stressful year of my life by far but also amazing how much I've learnt... and in a few weeks I will start my first clinical placement :)

So needless to say all is well in my life and I hope all of my lovely readers out there can say the same.

Today's manicure is sweet and simple because I've been short on time lately what with hours upon hours of studying :P

The lovely purple (orchid) colour is Essie Play Date.

Cult Nails Casual Elegance Collection + Nail Vinyls sample

It's like Cult Nails nail mail shows up at my door every time I'm at my most stressed... it's perfect :) I'm either in the middle of exams (like now) or just finishing a practical exam or midterm and in the mood to sit back, relax and do my nails. The timing is always spot on... and the Casual Elegance Collection is no exception. It showed up at my door just a couple of days ago and I couldn't wait to sit back and try them all out...

This mini-collection (3 bottles, regular sized) also came with a Nail Vinyls sample, so you can see my step-by-step process above.

My base was Casual Elegance: A pale lilac creme that is VERY camera shy. The above photo and below, right photo are the most color-accurate (minus my orange skin). It tends to want to photograph blue.

Next, I created a gradient using Intriguing. This one was only hard to capture because I was trying to stay color-true for Casual Elegance and the gradient started to disappear on camera.

I threw in a swatch of Winter's Light so you could see this beauty in all it's glory. Supposedly it's the purple-blue cousin to Hypnotize Me (one of Cult Nails earlier lacquers). Marta Warmuz of Chit Chat Nails also layered this one over Vicious and topped it with a Matte finish and it's stunning!

After creating the gradient, I applied the Nail Vinyls on my ring and pinky fingers, painted over them with 2 coats of Winter's Light. Removed the vinyls while the polish was still wet and topped it off with Seche Vite.

This collection is gorgeous! Each polish is limited edition from Cult Nails and Intriguing is already sold-out. So head over to Cult Nails to pick up Casual Elegance or Winter's Light if you're interested, before they're all gone. If you're new to Cult Nails you can get $12 off your first purchase of $24 or more if you follow this link: http://r.sloyalty.com/r/trnOlEEVImyW

Last week, @pantone featured a lovely piece of art on their instagram account that was created by @jessillustrator

I immediately decided I HAD to turn it into nail art! :)

Base coat is Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Royan Blush. The sponged on colors are: SH Salon Manicure I Pink I Can, American Apparel Pink Ladies, and China Glaze Peachy Keen. The branches were painted (and could use some practice in my opinion) with OPI Black Onyx and a thin nail art brush.

If you get a chance, check out @jessillustrator on instagram. She has some beautiful art work that might just inspire you! :)

Copy Cat Gold Floral

Todays manicure was inspired by @christabellnails on instagram, when I saw this design, I went straight to her Youtube channel and followed her tutorial for this gold floral look...

I used Suzy Nude as the base, then drew the flowers using a couple nail art brushes, OPI Alpine Snow, Finger Paints Well-Cultured Pearl, and elf Pot of Gold.

I really like this design, but I definitely like Christabell's better. She's a fantastic nail artist and if you aren't following her youtube channel or instagram you should be! :)

elf glitter french

Happy Friday! I have a sweet and simple look for you today... A glitter french using elf cosmetics polish...

I used (from left to right) Gold Star, Mambo Mauve, Pot of Gold

I painted the gold on the tip using the brush from the bottle. I just made sure there was very little polish on it.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend :) Mine will be filled with study study study for my upcoming final exams. (but I might fit in a manicure or two ;)
