Shimmer Polish: Katie, Sarah, Elsa, Alessandra

Well here it is... the final instalment of my Shimmer Polish collection. I can't believe I made it through 16 different swatches/photo editing and uploading. Those of you lovely bloggers out there who swatch polishes non-stop, I give you mad respect, it's tough work! :)

I will start off today's post with another favourite of mine, Katie. To be completely honest this one was not a favourite until I got it on my nails!! I've used it twice in the last week I loved it so much :) This is two thin coats layered over Cult Nails Grunge... but this polish would work on its own too. (Stay tuned for more posts featuring this perfect green/gray/pink glitter)

Sarah. This beauty was so stunning I had to show it to you over a few different bases. Below you can see one coat of Sarah on my index nail- it contains tropical green, blue and purple glitter so I decided to layer it over (from left to right) Cult Nails Riot, Party Time, and Butter London Marrow.

And here you can see the final touches, while Sarah is stunning on its own, each base brought out a different "shimmer" in this polish :) A must-have in my opinion.

Elsa - Turquoise, Red, and Gold glitter, who would have thought they would make such a lovely combination :)  This is two coats layered over a pale blue (although I think I would personally prefer it layered over a darker shade)

And last but not least, this coral red is Alessandra. This is two coats of beauty all on its own, no base and no top coat. I will definitely be sporting this shade on a pedicure this summer... seems like a toes in the sand kind of polish :)

I hope you all enjoyed my swatches of my 16 new bottles of shimmer polish. If you'd like to see all of them in one place you can check out my Facebook album or Pinterest board.

Chevron stamping

Hello lovely ladies (and gents), I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was filled with cleaning, studying, and photo editing/watermarking.

As a result, today I have a manicure that I wore sometime last week...

Cult Nails Wack Slacks is a gorgeous navy blue with purple undertones and very very camera shy. (the purple undertones didn't quite make it through in pictures). It's a true one-coater with a lovely formula (I suggest that Culties and non-Culties alike get their hands on this shade). I stamped over it with konad white polish and BM-423.

Hope you like it :) I should have the rest of my Shimmer polish up later this week if all goes well, so stay tuned.

Shimmer Polish: Astrid, Jacki, Julie, Rochelle

Half a snow day today! Which means I took advantage of my extra time and swatched four more shades from Shimmer (some of them in the sunlight too!)

Astrid is a lovely soft pink, purple, and iridescent glitter... so soft in fact that I decided to layer it over a neutral shade to show you all its true beauty :)

Unfortunately it was dark by the time I photographed this manicure so I only have flash photos of this shade, but it won't be the last you see of it... I think it would be especially beautiful in the sun (whenever it decides to come out again).

While Astrid is a soft and innocent shade, Jacki is vampy and outrageous. This deep violet with a mix of multi-colored micro glitter is a stunner. This is two coats with no top coat.

These photos in indirect natural light show Jacki's softer side. I think that a top coat would have really made the micro glitter stand out... but this definitely won't be the last you see of this polish.

Julie is jam packed with small multicoloured glitter. It kind of reminds me of a dupe for DL-Happy Birthday, but small glitter pieces and to be honest, more my style :) I would love to layer this over a black or purple polish for a night out. This is two coats, no top coat.

Julie is just as colourful in natural lighting, I think a top coat would really make this manicure pop! :)

Last but not least in today's line up of Shimmer Polish is... Rochelle. Red. Gold. Need I say more? This shade is perfect for Valentine's day!

The indoor flash photos fail to capture the stunning gold glitter that stands out against all the red in this polish. But the natural lighting ones capture it a bit more...

Trust me, this polish is a stunner in real life, it was just a little camera shy (aren't all reds/golds?)

I hope you enjoyed these few shades, I have four left of my collection to swatch for you so stay tuned. Here's to hoping for another snow day ;)

Night Out

If any of you follow my instagram you may have seen this manicure already... I went out on Saturday night with my class and created this look inspired by my shirt :)

I picked up this cute little owl necklace at Forever 21 and decided to mix up my usual "photography"

My accent nails were inspired by my shirt. The base colour is OPI My Vampire is Buff. Then I stamped 3 different designs in this order: BM-309 (using Barry M Gold Foil), BM-225 (using OPI Warm Me Up), and BM-206 (Konad special black). Warm Me Up is also featured on my ring finger and thumb, and OPI All Sparkly and Gold is on my pinky :)

Top and bottom photos were taken indoors with flash

And the photo below was taken in indirect natural light from the window... note: natural light, not sunlight lol... there hasn't been a whole lot of that lately.

Have any of you matched your nails to your outfit on a night out?

Shimmer Polish: Adrienne, Amy, Taylor, Tiffany

Take two of my newly acquired Shimmer Collection :) Today I have four more shades for you all and I hope you love them as much as I do...

Adrienne has to be my favourite winter glitter without a doubt! This gorgeous blue/silver/gold glitter is stunning... this is one coat layered over a navy blue base (the best way to wear it, but wearing it alone is gorgeous too).

Amy is a cute shade, it reminds me of a dress one of my Barbie's had when I was a little girl :) It's multi coloured glitter suspended in a pink base... this is two coats with no top coat.

Taylor. Now this is a vampy glitter if there ever was one. Deep Red/Purple base with a mix of red/blue/green glitter. This is two coats with no top coat but I think a nice top coat would really help to bring out the glitter in photographs. This photo doesn't do the polish justice (it's difficult to photograph this time of year when the sun goes down so early).

Tiffany is another favourite of mine. This is two coats with no top coat but I prefer this shade layered over a deep purple... it really brings out the pale pink and blue glitter.

Sorry for the delay in posts. I'm really trying to swatch these as quickly as possible whenever my nails are in decent shape, which is rare these days... Winter is always so hard on my nails and cuticles :(

Stay tuned, I still have 8 more polishes from Shimmer to swatch. And don't forget to check out Cindy's Etsy shop to purchase these shades, or her Blog to learn more about them!

Shimmer Polish: Cleo, Courtney, Josephine, Natalie

Before my Christmas holiday, Cindy from Shimmer Polish got in touch and asked if I would like to review some of her nail polish… my answer of course was YES, and she sent along 16 of her gorgeous polishes for me to show you :)

I will be doing 4 posts over the next little while, each will feature four of the polishes (in no particular order, although I will highlight my personal favourites when I get to them).

Now let's get on with it… :)

Cleo
Cleo is a stunner! With holographic, blue and purple glitter suspended in a deep purple base this polish just screams galaxy nail art. This is two coats of polish with no top coat. I would really like to try this over a navy blue base too :)

Courtney
Courtney: Blue, silver, pink, and green glitter suspended in a pink base. Two coats, no topcoat. I would love to see how this polish would change over a white or black base :)

Josephine
Josephine contains some softer pink, light blue, and dark blue glitter in a pale pink base. This would be an excellent accent to a breast cancer awareness manicure. Two coats, no top coat.

Natalie
Natalie: Dusty blue, gold and copper glitter in a clear base. This beauty required two thick coats, but I think it would be incredible layered over a silver or pale blue base.

That's all for today, but stay tuned for more fabulous shades from Shimmer Polish. If you would like to purchase any of these for yourself you can check out her Etsy shop, or to read about her polish line and the inspiration behind each shade you can visit her Blog.
