piCture pOlish: Aurora

I've had this polish in my collection for a little while now and am finally getting the chance to swatch it! :)

This gorgeous shade was released as a rarity in the piCture pOlish Limited Edition Collection. As you may recall when I first got the collection I didn't have this one to add to it... but I finally got my hands on it :) (Now all that's missing is Borealis to finish off my "Northern Lights")

This is one coat layered over a black base topped with Seche Vite. The formula turned out a little "bumpy" but that's because I painted my nails outdoors on a very hot and sunny day and didn't realize how much it would affect the polish application. New polish, and a new lesson... luckily the polish formula went right back to normal when the bottle was brought back indoors. No more painting nails outside for me.

The pictures were taken outdoors too, without flash in indirect sunlight.

All Sparkly and Gold... Chevron

Ten full days since my last post... I guess I underestimated how little I would actually blog while doing my clinical placement. Apologies for my scattered posts, but I promise I haven't gone anywhere for good :)

Today I have another simple nail art design for you...

The base is OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons and the chevron base was created using scotch tape and OPI All Sparkly and Gold

Sweet and simple.

Just an update on whats going on with me... I'm 4 weeks into my 6-week placement in Newfoundland and enjoying all of the hands-on experience in the hospital here. But I do miss Halifax and my nail polish collection I had to leave behind :(
For the next two weeks the nail art will continue to be quite simple because of my small collection here with me. I hope you all stick around ;)

Nude and White Argyle

I wanted something simple and neutral the other day so I picked up the new Cult Nails stamping plate and decided to try out the argyle design!

Indirect sunlight no flash
I also got a new bottle of OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons to replace my almost empty one... and there's nothing better than cracking open a new bottle of polish :)

Sweet and simple for today, I hope you like it :)

I joined the Cult and fell in LOVE!

As promised I have some nail art for you today that was created using the first ever Cult Nails stamping plate!!

This one of a kind plate was created by Maria from Cult Nails with input from Marta from Chit Chat Nails! It features some adorable shapes and patterns, and a beauty of a stamp on the bottom centre... it says "I joined the Cult and fell in Love" over and over.

And how true that is!! Cult Nails is officially my favourite brand of polish, and the one I own the most of. I fell in love with the brand from day one!

The text is meant to look a little "grunge" like, kinda like an old letter. So I stamped with it and the heart from the top left corner.

And the base is Cult Nails Evolution from the It's a New Day Collection as seen on my last post :)

If you are not yet a member of the cult and wish to join you can get $12 off your first purchase of $24 or more if you follow the link:

Cult Nails It's a New Day Collection and Stamping Plate!

As you may already know, I won this gorgeous new collection from the Cult Nails google hangout a few weeks back.. and after it arrived at my place in Halifax my boyfriend was sweet enough to send it my way while I'm staying with my parents on my clinical placement.

So of course the minute it arrived I jumped straight into swatching it! (stay tuned to another post for the stamping plate review)

Evolution: A stunning, buildable, peach creme polish... this is my favourite of the three!

This is 3 thin coats... it could be a two-coater depending on your application technique.

Falling Hard: I fell hard for this stunning bubble gum pink creme polish.

Two thin coats was all I needed for this look, but this could easily be a one-coater.

This beauty jewelry piece is from Miikana - a small Handmade jewelry business with a native flare... I actually won this custom piece in a random giveaway on Facebook and it too just arrived in the mail :)

New Day: The perfect pale yellow creme! I have been waiting for a yellow shade that I can actually wear with my skin tone for AGES!

Again this could be a one-coater but I did it in two thin coats just for a smoother application :)

Stay tuned for a review of the first ever stamping plate from Cult Nails!! :)

Light as a Feather

It has been a couple of weeks since I finished up my final exams, left Halifax and moved in with my parents (for 6 weeks while I do my first clinical placement/internship). So now I find myself back in central Newfoundland, no longer weighed down by studying and writing finals... and despite the fact I'm "working", I have more time to do my nails and read and it is lovely!

On my way to central I stopped into St. John's to visit with my sister and my extended family, including, of course, my cousin Phoebe Jane! (featured here on MANY occasions). She took advantage of my visit and had me paint her nails (even though she is incredibly talented at doing her own) :)

She is about to celebrate her 15th birthday, and these beautiful claws are her natural nails. Nails that any blogger, including myself, would KILL for! haha.

The pink is a base polish that she owns and I'm really not sure what the name was, but the feathers were painted using OPI Black Onyx, Alpine Snow, and an OPI gold glitter that I can't recall the name of at the moment. I followed the tutorial by @naildecor

Hope you like this look :)

Just a note: because I'm working for 6 weeks in a hospital (and then another 6 in a hospital in Halifax) my posts may be a little more sporadic through to July. I'm not allowed to wear polish in the hospital and I have to keep my nails short for infection control (and so I don't scratch anyone) so I'm only doing my nails on the weekend. I will try to do a few and post throughout the week but I'm not making any promises. Stay tuned though, I'm not going anywhere far...
