I'm on a Nail Vinyl kick

I finally got the hang of using Nail Vinyls! I took the advice of my lovely readers, and as much as I didn't want to add extra layers, I used a layer of fast-drying topcoat before applying the Vinyls.

For this look I started with a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff. Then applied Seche Vite, and a thick chevron nail vinyl. From there I painted the two purple shades: OPI Miss You-niverse and Essie Play Date. Removed the nail vinyls, top coated the whole look and voila!

Of course now that I've gotten the hand of using them, I've been using them all the time! Hope you guys like this look :)

Stay Classy

My nails did not get shorter since the last time I posted, in fact, since using Rejuvacote my nails are the longest they've ever been and continuing to stay long and strong.

This manicure is instead from about a week ago, after I did the Rejuvacote review I rounded them off in hopes of eventually growing them out and doing an almond nail shape (I'll keep you all posted if you're interested) :)

Anyways... moving on to the nail art I want to share with you...

For this classy look I used all OPI polishes: Black Onyx, All Sparkly and Gold, My Vampire is Buff.

Polka Dot Play Date

This manicure needs no introduction (that, and I have no idea what to say today)...

The gorgeous purple is Essie Play Date. I created the roses using OPI Black Onyx and My Vampire is Buff (off-white) following a tutorial on instagram by @JudyRox. The polka dots were done using a dotting tool and MViB again. And finally, the leaves were painted using Cult Nails Grunge with accents of MViB.

Hope you guys like the look :)

ModCloth Nail Klub Challenge

When I'm running short on inspiration I often turn to the fashion industry. I also often match my nails to my outfit for a night out. "Who says matchy-matchy can’t be marvellous?"

So when ModCloth contacted me and asked if I would participate in their Nail Klub challenge, I jumped at the chance to do a manicure inspired by one of their fabulous dresses!

My inspiration came from this adorable Frock Party Dress that would be a fantastic item to wear on any night out this summer.

For this look I started with a base coat of OPI My Vampire is Buff. Then using Nail Vinyls in various widths, I added Cult Nails Radiance, Nakizzle's Shizzle, and Revlon Inflame. Once that was dry and top coated, I place Nail Vinyls on my nails again and added the black using OPI Black Onxy. Topped it all off with Seche Vite (unfortunately with a little bit of bleeding from the black polish).

Review: Nail Polish Canada Duri Rejuvacote

From dying nails... to nails to die for!

My natural nails, sans polish and sans basecoat in both photos, artificial lighting with flash

Duri Rejuvacote nail growth system: for split, cracked, and acrylic eaten nails.

This product is magic in a bottle! And this review could not have come at a better time for me. As many of you know I have been on 2, 6-week clinical placements back to back... and as a result I have not been allowed to wear polish at work. My nails have been in and out of water and ill-tended to for weeks, going on months! When this product arrived from Nail Polish Canada my nails were in desperate need of some TLC.

Before: If you look closely my nails were nearly see-through and had many splits in them that would inevitably turn into cracks/chips in my nails...

Sans basecoat
One week: After just one week I could notice an amazing difference in nail growth! However, at this point I was quite skeptical of it's ability to strengthen my nails. They still felt weak and fragile, and you can see in the photo the tips were still quite see-through at this point. (This is especially typical of my nails during winter months).
Wearing Duri-Rejuvacote after 1 week
Two weeks: The difference in length and strength was irrefutable. This product has blown my mind. The only other product I would equate this to would be Nailtiques. Otherwise, no other strengthening base coat can hold a candle to this one (including OPI, Sally Hansen, Seche Base, Orly Nailtrition, Nail Tek etc. you get the idea, I've tried a lot of strengtheners)
Sans base coat after 2 weeks
And... this growth system (in my opinion) beats Nailtiques in price, so all-in-all I would HIGHLY recommend it for weak/split nails.

While this product can be found in a few nail salons across Canada, Nail Polish Canada is the only online retailer where you can purchase Duri Rejuvacote (in Canada that is). It retails for $12.95 for the usual 0.5 fl. oz.

I wore Rejuvacote as instructed on the bottle without polish (because of work) for two weeks continuously. As a result, I cannot vouch for it's usefulness as a top coat, however, as a nail growth system this product has few to compete with!

Since I don't wear acrylic nails, I also can't comment on how effective this growth system is on acrylic eaten nails... but if any of you have tried it out post gel/acrylic nails please let me know how it turned out.

Nail Vinyl Funky French

I got a tiny glimpse of my creativity back the other day (it's been missing lately) and decided to do a funky french manicure :)

For this design I used Nail Vinyls on my bare nail, painted my tips with Cult Nails Wack Slacks, pulled the vinyls off, and then topped the design off with Seche Vite.

Aside from wanting to do a french, the reason I used the Vinyls on my bare nails was because I haven't had much luck using them over already polished nails... so I'm asking for a little advice... the stickers always seem to pull the base polish off when I try to do multicoloured designs no matter how long I wait for the base to dry before applying them... Am I pulling them off too slow or too vertical or something?? Any one else have this issue? Please comment below with any tips/advice.

I really enjoyed this design and it was really quick and simple to do. I will likely try it again with just a simple white french next time :)

Review: Born Pretty Store Dark Rhinestones

Another product from Born Pretty Store... Dark Rhinestone wheel...

I really enjoy the flashes of blue/green and red in the rhinestones... although my design idea didn't exactly work out the way I had planned in my head. Next time I'll just stick with a single stone at the base of each nail.

These rhinestones come in 4 different sizes within the wheel, great for all kinds of nail art. The wheel retails for $4.10USD with free shipping!
